Gongs, grants and galleries – Arthur Creative’s month to remember!

October 28, 2025

Melba’s Arthur Creative is a hive of activity at the best of times, but this past month has seen things go into overdrive!

Three of Arthur’s artists – Kaitlyn, Bell and Jessica – were honoured with the Emma Barrance Inclusive Arts Award, celebrating not only their creative vision but the vibrant spirit of inclusion fostered through Melba’s Arthur Creative.

The award means they are now welcomed into the respected Ballarat Arts Foundation (BAF) Alumni community, gaining not just financial support, but access to mentorship, networking and future opportunities.

As an added bonus, all three also received funding from BAF to buy materials for their upcoming group exhibition Beyond the Vase, set to open at Ballarat’s Art Space gallery next year.

Speaking of grants, Arthur’s performers received funding from Ballarat City Council to buy much-needed portable music equipment, which will enable them to perform at venues previously not possible, such as the Ballarat Twilight Christmas Market, which attracts up to 15,000 people

And, finally, six artists recently ventured to Geelong to visit the Archibald Prize 2025 Exhibition at Geelong Gallery. Jenna, Kez, Liam, Bell, Ruby and Glenn were able to study the styles of Australia’s most celebrated portrait artists up close and in detail.

Will we be seeing a Melba entry in next year’s competition? Watch this space!
