Supported holidays give people the chance to take a break, explore new places and enjoy travel with the right level of assistance. Trips can be close to home, interstate or overseas, and can be planned for individuals or small groups.
Supported holidays are for anyone who would like to travel with support in place. We work with each person to understand what they want from a holiday and what level of support will help them feel comfortable and confident.
If the trip aligns with your NDIS plan’s goals you can use your NDIS funds to pay for your supports on the holiday. The cost of the support is usually funded out of the Core Support budget.
Please note NDIS won’t fund your holiday costs, such as flights, accommodation, meals, and entertainment. These are out of pocket expenses.
Support can include planning, organising activities, managing routines and providing one on one or group assistance while away. The level of support is tailored to what each person needs.
Yes. You can pick from existing trips or work with us to design a personalised holiday. Whether you prefer a local getaway or a bigger adventure, our team can help shape an adventure around your interests.
Yes. Melba offers small group trips, usually with a limited number of travellers so everyone feels included and supported. These are a great option for people who enjoy shared experiences.
Safety is a priority. Trips are planned carefully, support workers are experienced, and group sizes remain small. Our team works through all the details with you before you leave so you know what to expect.
You can call Melba or complete an enquiry form on our website. From there, someone will talk to you about the type of holiday you’re interested in, the support you would require and answer any questions you have.
The cost of our trips includes support, accommodation, main meals, transportation, and activities. Please note that alcoholic drinks, snacks, morning teas, incidentals, and souvenirs are not included.
Travel insurance and visas (where applicable) are also not included, but we can help you get them.
All of our Victorian adventures depart from our head office in Lilydale. If you live on the way to the destination, we can pick you up and drop you off at no additional cost.
All interstate and international trips depart from Tullamarine airport. If you live far away and need assistance with transfers to the departure location, we are happy to help you.
It depends on the destination and the number of participants. We generally book hotels, motels, villas in holiday parks and Airbnb houses. We always choose the best value for money option to keep your out of pocket cost as low as possible.
If you are in a wheelchair or require an accessible room and bathroom, please let us know and we will ensure to book accommodation best suited to your needs.
If you have booked a 1:1 supported trip you will have your own bedroom (unless you request otherwise).
Our group trips generally are costed on twin share arrangements; however, we always try our best to accommodate single occupancy when possible. Single room occupancy might incur an additional cost, however.
The meals are generally a mixed of home cooked, restaurants and take away options. If you like cooking, you are welcome to help us prepare dinners.
We consider everyone’s dietary requirements and make sure all allergies, intolerances, religious/cultural diets, likes, and dislikes are catered for.
Yes. We understand not everyone feels comfortable going on a trip without first meeting our wonderful team.
