For the past 33 years every council must have a Disability Action Plan (DAP) to ensure equal access to employment, public buildings, goods, services and facilities.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This might include installing accessible playground equipment, ensuring council websites work with screen readers, providing information in Easy Read formats, or training employers to better support people with disability.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Maroondah Council is in the process of shaping its 2026-2030 DAP and is calling on residents to complete a brief survey to help make it a more accessible and socially inclusive community. It\u2019s about learning what\u2019s working well, what challenges people may be experiencing and what they would like to see in the future.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Melba CEO Hayley Dean urges all locals to complete the survey.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cAs an organisation providing support for people with disability in Maroondah, we see every day how vital it is for communities to be accessible, inclusive and empowering,\u201d she said.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThese plans are critical in taking significant steps forward \u2013 not just in policy, but in real action to break down barriers and build a truly inclusive and accessible community for everyone.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Maroondah\u2019s DAP survey closes Monday 3 November and can be accessed by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/url.au.m.mimecastprotect.com\/s\/aPNICvl115F7nXj2cQfRuQuIlU?domain=yoursay.maroondah.vic.gov.au\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">clicking on this link<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To view your council\u2019s DAP, go to its website and look in the section dedicated to community services, inclusion, or corporate planning.
