New lifestyle program at Hunts Road

People we support at Hunts Road are enjoying their new home-based lifestyle program. As part of the background, the supported people at Hunts Road had to stop their involvement in a day program at the start of COVID-19 outbreak. This was due to the concerns with lockdowns at the time, and associated problems within the local community with the spread of COVID-19. This meant that the staff at Hunts Road advocated for the supported people to begin discussions with the Support Coordinator, family advocates, and local service providers around what could be offered within their own home for funded community participation.

Setting this up was ultimately about building a program based on the needs of the supported people, and running it so it could be based at their very own home.

Several different service providers were investigated into providing this service with one being a standout. Function Therapy, a local Allied Health Service, was successful to become the provider. That's how Function Therapy’s lifestyle program at Hunts Road was born and the rest is history. This lifestyle program has been running since December 2020 and it has become a great advocacy group for the supported people at Hunts Road. Not only that, it is opening many different community opportunities for the people we support at Hunts Road. Congratulations to all involved!
