Hi everyone, I hope you are all keeping well as we have seen omicron surge across Victoria. We are continually watching Victoria's rates of transmission and are hopeful as we are starting to see a decline in the daily figures. All the regions now have Rapid Antigen Tests for people supported and staff. These are used when we have a suspected or confirmed case and/or the supported person or staff member is a close contact.
We can now also confirm the dates for Melba’s Booster vaccination hubs. Getting vaccinated has been an important part in protecting people at Melba against COVID-19. With the high rate of COVID-19 in the community, it is now a requirement for staff to have their booster and we are strongly encouraging all families and people supported to also book in for a booster shot.
New Melba Vaccination Hubs Melba has joined again with ASPEN to support the Melba Community to receive their third dose (booster) vaccination. All are welcome to the hubs: people supported, staff, and friends. You are eligible if: - you received your second vaccination three or more months ago - are well after testing positive to COVID-19 and have completed at least 7 days of isolation; we would suggest confirming with your medical practitioner For information about eligibility visit https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/who-can-get-vaccinated. Prioritisation of Disability Workers for PCR Testing Disability workers are now in the Priority 1 group for PCR testing if they are a contact which means their PCR test results will be processed with the highest priority. This will help with our workforce shortages and the challenges of having staff furloughed unnecessarily due to the delays in testing results. Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH) hope this prioritisation for PCR testing will also alleviate some of the pressures associated with Rapid Antigen Test supply. Arranging Visits Thank you for calling ahead before you visit any of the Melba homes or services. We are following all government directions which includes restrictions on the number of visitors. Screening Questions if Visiting a Melba Supported Home When you call to arrange a visit, staff must ask specific COVID-19 screening questions including:
do you have any symptoms of COVID-19?
are you required to isolate or quarantine?
have you been in contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19? (except in the course of your employment while wearing the appropriate level of PPE) in the:
last 7 days if the visitor is fully vaccinated and is not a close contact, or
last 14-days if the visitor is not fully vaccinated or is a close contact
