An update from melba on COVID-19 impacts- 15 January

Hi everyone,

Given the rapidly changing nature of this pandemic and the ongoing issue we have sourcing rapid antigen tests, I wanted to pass on some good news. We have secured RA tests for staff and people supported. They are being delivered to each region. South, Gippsland, and the East will have them by tonight at the latest and Central Highlands & Wimmera will have theirs in the next day or two. They may be being dropped off as we send this email.

The other good news is disability workers are now considered ‘essential’. This will assist us to continue to have adequate supplies of PPE (we have a stockpile) and ongoing access to RA tests. All our staff are wearing at minimum P2 masks (instead of surgical) this is helping to keep everyone safe. As essential workers we are following all government directions for the furloughing and testing of staff.

Thank you for your ongoing understanding as the rules and directions continue to change, and houses may go in and out of isolation. Our staff, both frontline and on-call are working around the clock to keep people supported safe and to provide you with the latest information available if your loved one is impacted. A huge shoutout to all our staff who day in day out continue to put people first, their outstanding dedication has never wavered
