Dear friends,
As you are aware, to combat rising levels of COVID-19, Victoria is now in either stage 4 or entering stage 3 restrictions depending on where you live and work. While this is challenging for us all, we want to assure you the Melba team is monitoring all the requirements we must adhere to, and we are doing everything we can to ensure the safety and health of everyone we support and our staff.
To help slow the spread of COVID-19, please stay safe by regularly washing your hands, keeping at least 1.5 metres from other people where possible and wearing a mask when not at home.
Melba provides surgical masks for all staff to use when providing direct support across Victoria (this is now mandatory). We have also purchased cloth masks for use by staff and people we support when they are away from their homes. Following discussions with our Medical Adviser, Dr Sandars, we will also be providing face shields to our staff in the coming days as additional protection. Our grateful thanks again to family members who have assisted us source these items of personal protective equipment.
A reminder to please get tested if you have any symptoms of COVID-19, no matter how mild. Click to find a testing site near you: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/where-get-tested-covid-19. We have assured our staff they will not be financially disadvantaged when they take time off work to get tested and await their results, having read that staff in some other industries have attended work when unwell.
