A MESSAGE FROM MELBA’S CEO RE COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) – UPDATE 19 September 2020

There is a pandemic hotline to respond to questions and queries from our Melba community. The hotline number is 1300 MYMELBA (1300 696352). For all other community members, if needed please contact the DHHS Coronavirus 24-hour Hotline number: 1800 675 398.

Dear friends,

There has been an important update regarding Melba’s SIL and group homes across Victoria, relating to what all visitors are being asked to do prior to entering a Melba home. It is so important that everyone who enters a Melba home is completely well.

Now, all visitors including family must complete and sign a quick Health Attestation Form, and have their temperature checked by a Melba staff member.

This applies to everyone – all disability support workers, family members, agency staff, allied health professionals, cleaners, doctors, tradies, support workers from other disability organisations.

If you are visiting a Melba home, the form will ask you to formally declare that you are well and have NO symptoms of COVID-19 (even mild ones). This form also asks you to declare that you have not been asked to isolate as a close contact of someone with COVID-19, plus other questions.

If you or any visitor have any symptoms of COVID-19 (even mild ones), a temperature over 37.5, or have been asked to isolate as a close contact or awaiting a COVID-19 test result, for the safety of all people, you may not enter the Melba supported home..

If you do have symptoms it is important to get tested for COVID-19.

As required by the Victorian Government we will keep the completed Health Attestation Forms for six weeks. – they are needed in case anyone gets sick over that time to aid contact tracing. The forms will then be destroyed.

Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions you may have at this time. You can also call Melba’s coronavirus hotline on 1300 MYMELBA (1300 696352).

Thanks for your understanding and for helping to keep us all safe.

Yours sincerely,

Hayley Dean
