A MESSAGE FROM MELBA’S CEO RE COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS) 16 July 2021

Updated: Jul 19

Hi everyone,

I know that another lockdown is not where any of us would like to be in Victoria. It is frustrating and tiring, and maybe even a little scary too with the new COVID variant. If you’re worried about being in lockdown, Beyond Blue has some excellent resources, like this list of things you can do to take care of yourself. Melba’s website also has a great list of fun things to do at home. And let’s hope that we can get on top of this outbreak quickly.

At Melba, our staff remain focussed on ensuring people we support stay safe and well. We will, once again, follow Government guidelines during this lockdown. That includes observing the five reasons to leave home (for shopping for necessary goods, for care and care giving, for exercise, for authorised work, and to get a COVID-19 vaccination). I strongly encourage you to get a COVID-19 vaccination too.

Here are some details about our services during this lockdown.

Centre-based activities

  • We will continue to support individuals for whom support is essential.

  • If you need to access this support, please contact the service manager.

ISA

  • Essential Individual Supports will continue.

  • Supports will follow Government directions for five reasons to leave home.

Supported Independent Living (SIL) services

  • SIL services will continue.

  • Supports will follow Government directions for the five reasons to leave home.

  • No more than two visitors are permitted per service per day, to provide essential care and support necessary for the individual’s physical or emotional wellbeing.

  • After a stay with their families, people can return to their Melba home as long as they do not have any symptoms of COVID-19. If they have any symptoms, they must return a negative test before returning home.

STAA (Respite services)

  • STAA (Respite services) will continue.

  • Supports will follow Government directions for the five reasons to leave home.

  • People can access respite as long as they do not have any symptoms of COVID-19. If they have any symptoms, they must return a negative test before arriving at respite.

Support Coordination

  • Support Coordination will continue.

If you have any queries about your support, please contact either your regular service manager, or the General Manager in your region.
