The majority of permanent positions are advertised internally in the first instance. Casual staff are invited to apply for permanent positions.
CASUAL EMPLOYMENT
Casual Employment is available at Melba Support Services in both the Residential Services and
Community Connections.
Information Nights on working at Melba are held three (3) times per year. In 2010 the scheduled
Information Nights will be held commencing at 7.00pm on:
- February 16th
- June 1st
- October 26th
After attending the Information Night if you are interested in casual employment and you
are deemed suitable for work in the disability field, you will be invited to a group interview.
If you are successful at the interview you will be offered a position on our Casual List. A comprehensive Induction and Orientation session over two days will follow your acceptance.
Mandatory requirements for employment at Melba are;
- Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate (or to be supplied within six months of commencement)
- Current Police Check ( No older than 6 months)
- Manual Drivers LIcence or ability to drive a manual vehicle

Advertisements will be placed in local papers two weeks prior to Information Night being held.
TRAINING
Melba Support Services offer a range of training:
- Mandatory training for all people working within our Community Living Support Services (CLSS) - medication, manual handling, g-tube and communication supports, Abuse, Neglect and Incident Reports, Induction and Orientation to Melba Support Services Inc and disability services in general.
- Specific skill development depending on individualized needs for people using Melba's services e.g. Employment, Autism Spectrum Disorder and connecting people to Community.
- Skill development in areas of interest noted by staff e.g. Communication and Planning.
